The Starter Kit - Improv Comedy

Back during The Hideout Theatre's 40-Hour Improv Marathon, The Starter Kit created a format that had all the performers on stage improvising a clip show where we looked back on the last seven to eight years of a sitcom that never existed while also playing out a present-day story of some big upcoming event. That spawned the idea for our Murder! format we used when we last hosted the Thursday Threefer in October.

I began studying improv comedy at the Hideout Theatre in August 2006. It was a fantastic way to relieve stress and find a new hobby. Upon graduating from three levels of six week classes in the Spring 2007, two of my classmates and I decided to form our own improv troupe. It was the next step after graduating if we were going to take this somewhat seriously.

Hopefully, this will be the first of many regular columns here called The Starter Kit Likes, which will talk about anything we all enjoy to one degree or another. These things can be videos, music, articles, shows, or any other random topic we all agree on. Because today is the first day of SXSW, I figured the first entry should be about an event taking place during the festival. Lucky for me, it's an event that we're all equally and incredibly (like girlish squeal) excited to see.
