About Us

The Starter Kit performs a wide variety of formats from structured improvised narratives to completely off-the-wall, unpredictable insanity. We're regularly trying out new ways of expressing our playful side to appease our inner children as well as ways of pushing ourselves and our skills to higher and higher levels of performance. It's all about keeping shows fresh and interesting. The way we figure it, the more fun we have, the more fun you'll have watching us. Truth be told, it's hard to predict what you'll see at a TSK show. One thing we make sure of though is to have a strong sense of characters. We realize it's not going to matter how insane or good the plot of the show is if you don't care about the characters. To enjoy one of our shows, we recommend you come in with an open mind and realize anything can happen. That's the beauty of improv after all. If you must expect something, expect to be engaged and to have fun.

We appeared in the Out of Bounds Festival in 2008 and 2009, Waffle Fest in 2007 and headlined Waffle Fest in 2009 with our Murder! format. We were accepted to the DSI Festival, but unfortunately, couldn't attend. In April, 2010, we had our third run of Threefer Thursday shows at The Hideout Theatre in Austin. Our third anniversary as a troupe came at the end of April, 2010, and we celebrated in our usual style of giving water guns to the audience. You can see it for yourself here.

See you at our next show!
